The Time of Terrors (343 BC-347 BC and beyond) was an epoch of the history of Forfar that comprised the end of the Forfarian Civil War and the ramping up of Marc ApBlanc's oppression over the barony, including the realm's slide into the Demiplane of Dread.[1]

The Time of Terrors began with the 543 BC (1930 Forfarian Calendar) massacre of the ApFittles, a mass execution of 27 members of the ApFittle Family in the burnt out remains of their own hall.[2] The tumultuous chaos came to a head in 547 BC (1934 Forfarian Calendar, also variously known as the Year Without Spring[1] or the Year of Woe[3] Crop failures, eerie lights in the sky, and ground trembles caused many in Birnam and the surrounding countryside to flee Forfar altogether even prior to its slipping into Ravenloft.[1]

Once pulled into the Mists, Forfar began to twist and change into the twisted land known today as Forlorn. This resulted in another mass migration over the next several years, to where a notable number of Forfarians settled in Immol by roughly 550 BC. Only a scant few Forfarians, mostly druids, stayed behind in their haunted homeland to try and reclaim it, although some of the Forfarians who fled did set up something of a support system for the druids.[3]
