An organisation is a society forged of disperate people who are brought together by a party in pursuit of a goal.

A secret society is a secret organisation. It is a society of individuals who are deliberately brought together and who work together in secrecy towards one or more definite goals which may be more or less well known and which may be more or less enduring. Secret societies tend to assign their members to well defined roles and tend to be hierarchical. However they also tend to be cellular. Any given member may know little about the roles to which others are assigned and may have very limited contact with those assigned to those roles.
